Curator’s note:
In this work, a single ear of wheat becomes a charged metaphor. Once a symbol of life, nourishment, and cyclical renewal, it now appears hollowed and brittle — eaten through by rust until only its fragile shell remains.
For the artist, this image speaks to the toxic reach of Russian ideology, which, like a slow-moving infection, penetrates deep into cultures and narratives. It corrodes from within, consuming even the most resilient structures — histories, communities, values — until their vitality is gone. In this art piece, the rust becomes a visual stand-in for propaganda and imperial ambition, showing how corrosion can be both invisible at first and irreversible once it takes hold.
